CAMP Camp
Summer camp is designed to help kids learn, grow and develop a healthy sense of independence. Spending time at CAMP Camp is a great way to help them meet their full potential, as children and in life.
At CAMP Camp, we believe everyone should have access to the benefits and joy of summer camp, regardless of physical or developmental challenges.
CAMP (Children’s Association for Maximum Potential) offers a wide range of summer camping experiences for young people, ages 5-21, with developmental and or physical disabilities. Central to each program is the provision of support. This ensures that everyone, regardless of his or her medical or behavior needs will be able to participate in all programs and activities.
We offer a series of summer camp sessions from the end of May to the beginning of August. Each camp is a five-day summer session for young people with needs who may not be eligible to attend other camps due to the severity of their disability or medical condition. Activities for CAMPer’s siblings are also offered.
CAMP Camp objectives
CAMP’s goal is to help every individual reach their maximum potential. All of the activities at CAMP are adapted accommodate the special needs of each CAMPer, allowing them to be successful in each program.
Camp staffing
Our staff is made up of caring, well-trained professionals who volunteer their time. Physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, case managers, teachers, social workers and others assist CAMP counselors in providing routine care needs of the CAMPers. The camper/counselor ratio is 1:1 to 4:1, depending on the needs of the camper
Medical care
Camper’s medical needs are overseen by health care volunteers which include doctors, residents, nurses, occupational therapists, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, pharmacy students, and medical students. A well-equipped infirmary is available for 24-hour care.
Camper selection
CAMP serves individuals with mild to severe disabilities. Applications for summer camp sessions are available in February. Sessions are filled on a first come, first serve basis. All campers must complete the entire application process before being accepted in into a session.
