Meet our pediatricians

At Cook Children's, taking care of kids means including the whole family. We take the time to listen to you and your child, answer questions and help you navigate parenthood.

Our doctors are specialists in the health care of infants, children and adolescents. Our team includes board certified pediatricians that, together with you, will get your kids on the path to leading happy and healthy lives.

Frank McGehee, M.D.

Frank McGehee, M.D.Frank McGehee, M.D., continues a Cook Children's legacy that began more than 70 years when took over the office at 1129 Sixth Avenue in Fort Worth, near the medical center.

Dr. McGehee replaced John Richardson, M.D., who had practiced out of the same office for 43 years. Prior to that Edwin Schwarz, M.D., for whom the Health Sciences Library at Cook Children's is named, made 1129 Sixth Avenue his home. But since 2007, Dr. McGehee has followed those legends nicely. As you walk into his office, you feel comfort and long-time patient families trust Dr. McGehee adamantly. They say he's like part of their own family.

Dr. McGehee is married and the father of six children age 36-17. One of his children has Down Syndrome and it helps Dr. McGehee work with patients with DS and other special needs. In his role as primary care physician he treats a wide variety of children and helps them with everything from the common cold to complex issues. Dr. McGehee stresses at well-child visits the two most important things a mother can do for a child remain breastfeeding and making sure the baby's car seat is properly fastened.

Vanessa Charette, M.D.

Vanessa Charette, M.D.Vanessa Charette, MD has been a pediatrician at Cook Children's for 10 years and joined Dr. McGehee in 2013. She feels blessed to join Dr.McGehee in a pediatric practice that has been a Cook Children's legacy for over 70 years.

Dr. Charette embraces the many components that contribute to health: nutrition, physical activity, emotional/psychological stresses and the environment. As your pediatrician she will spend time with you discussing nutrition, child development and take the time to address any concerns you have about your child's health.

Dr. Charette earned her undergraduate degree at University of California, Los Angeles, and her medical degree at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). She completed her residency in pediatrics at San Diego Children's Hospital/UCSD. Dr. Charette is bilingual in English and Spanish and became board certified in 2002. She has served as a board member for Cook Children's Physician Network, Cook Children's Health Plan and as the medical director of the Cook Children's Neighborhood Clinics.

Dr. Charette is married and the mother of two active young boys.
