Now accepting volunteer applications for Cook Children's College Student Program beginning September 1, 2013!
Applications will be accepted from April 1st through August 1st, 2013. You must be a full-time college student, 18 years or older to apply.
Welcome to the Cook Children's College Volunteer page! Volunteering during college is a wonderful opportunity for you to gain valuable experience for a future career as you provide support to young patients, their families, and staff.
The College Student Volunteer Program runs from September 1st- May 30th. During that time, volunteers are expected to complete a minimum of 50 service hours. At the completion of 50 hours each year, students will have the option of a shadowing opportunity with a staff person in their field of interest/study.
The number of student placements available in the program varies each year depending on how many departments sign on to participate.
Applications are accepted April 1st - August 1st. After the August 1st deadline, applications will be reviewed and individuals will be selected to interview for the program.
After an interview has been completed, the final decision process will occur. Those individuals chosen for the 2012/2013 program will be notified via email or phone call.
College Volunteer Program Requirements:
- College volunteers must be 18 years of age or older, attending college, and meet screening and orientation requirements. Volunteer opportunities are offered mornings, afternoons and evenings, seven days a week.
- Placements are scheduled according to staff requests and the volunteer's availability.
- Commitment to volunteer 50 hours, over the course of the program.
- Applications are accepted April 1st - August 1st. After the August 1st deadline, applications will be reviewed and individuals will be selected to interview for the program. You will be contacted to interview by the end of August.
Volunteer Safety
Safety is of the utmost importance in protecting the patients and yourself as you volunteer in the medical setting. Please view the Volunteer Safety information as part of your training. When you have finished viewing the presentation, please complete the Safety Review Test.
After completing the safety test, you may call or email the volunteer office to set up your orientation date/time.
