Emergency Services

Emergency ServicesCook Children's emergency services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Cook Children's Emergency Department (ED) treats more than 105,000 patients every year. Our ED is the only EMS-designated pediatric trauma center in Tarrant County.

Now, thanks to years of dedication and hard work, Cook Children's Medical Center has reached Level II Trauma Designation from the American College of Surgeons and the Department of State Health Services. Cook Children's Medical Center is one of nine such facilities in the state of Texas.

Our team

Cook Children's Team Trauma is made up of physicians and nurses who are very experienced in pediatric emergency care. Additionally, the emergency department is supported by Teddy Bear Transport, one of the country's largest pediatric transport programs. More than 2,600 children are transported to Cook Children's Medical Center annually, most for critical care. Transport vehicles include a Cessna Citation Encore+ jet*, King Air B200 critical care transport airplane*, an American Eurocopter 145 helicopter* and five ambulances. Each are equipped to transport critical care patients and feature pediatric-oriented technology.

Cook Children's Emergency Services provides consultations for referring physicians and access to specialty and subspecialty consultations.
