NICU family resources

Cook Children's NICU is committed to giving families resources to help get their newborn off to the best start.

 

We provide a variety of educational and family networking opportunities to help equip new parents with information including:

  • NICU classes to help parents care for their babies during their stay.
  • Support groups and socializing activities to provide parents of neonatal babies the opportunity to connect with each other in a casual setting.
  • Child development and parenting literature pieces are available to help parents take care of their new baby’s needs.
  • NICU Case Management contacts each patient family after they go home to check on their medications and remind them of follow-up appointments.
  • Educational information covering a broad range of parenting and baby care subjects.
  • Events for parents, families and the community.

Information about these and other resources is readily available to NICU families, just ask.

Home health

There are times when additional care is required once your baby goes home. Your child’s pediatrician may make a referral to Cook Children’s Home Health. Led by a clinical team with vast experience in pediatrics, the visiting nurses in Cook Children’s Home Health team provide quality, patient-centered care in the comfort of your home.
