The Radiology Imaging department provides services focused on the imaging needs of children. We are dedicated to making your child’s experience safe in an environment that is child and family centered.

The Radiology Imaging department has been accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR). Accreditation by the ACR represents a commitment to quality imaging and safety. Equipment in the Radiology Imaging department has been tailored to the needs of children.

Bone densitometry (DEXA) procedures

Bone densitometry is a procedure that uses small amounts of radiation to measure bone density. This test can help doctors determine if a child has a bone deficiency or bone loss.

Computerized tomography (CT) scan

A CT scanner is a large machine with a doughnut-shaped opening. A sliding table runs through the opening to allow the machine to scan the body using a fan beam of X-rays and a detector system.

General radiology (X-ray)

An X-ray (radiograph) is an exam that helps physicians diagnose and treat conditions. X-rays are made by using external radiation to produce images of the body.

Fetal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)

A fetal MRI is a safe method of imaging specifically designed to help physicians diagnose a suspected health issue before a baby is even born.

Fluoroscopy procedures

A fluoroscopy procedure is an imaging exam used by doctors to obtain real-time moving images of the internal organs of a patient through the use of a special camera.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)

The MRI scanner is a powerful magnet with a tunnel running through the middle, allowing a table to slide through. Magnetic resonance imaging uses a powerful magnet, radio waves and a computer to take pictures of different body parts.

Nuclear medicine

A nuclear medicine scanner is a large doughnut-shaped machine with a table that slides through the middle that the patients will lie on for their pictures.

Positron emission tomography (PET) scan

A PET/CT scanner is a large doughnut-shaped machine with a sliding table in the middle for the patient to lie on for their pictures.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound, also called sonography, uses sound waves to create images. Ultrasound does not use radiation.
