The Leapfrog Group is a consortium of organizations that purchase healthcare for more than 34 million Americans. The group's goal is to encourage breakthroughs in health care quality and affordability. Hospital participation in the program is voluntary. The group measures hospital performance at implementing its recommended quality practices. Currently, the recommendations are: Computer Physician Order Entry, Intensive Care Unit Physician Staffing and Evidence-Based Hospital Referral.
