Comprehensive Health Care Plan Choose from three medical plans; effective the first full pay period after 30 days. *Available to both full-time and half-time employees.
Dental Insurance Plan Choose either a PPO plan with deductible with “in or out of network” benefits or a DMO. Both plans offer orthodontia coverage. Available to both full-time and half-time employees.
Paid Time Off Full-time and half-time employees earn up to 19 days their first year, 22 days their second year, 27 days their third through ninth year and 32 days for their tenth year and beyond. Sell back up to 120 hours per year. Part-time employees earn up to 11 days per year based on hours worked.
Extended Illness Bank Earn up to three days the first year and seven days in all subsequent years. Sell back provisions begin at year 10.
Basic Life Insurance Two times the annual base salary for full-time employees is provided by Cook Children’s Health Care System.
Additional Life, Dependent & Spouse Life Insurance In addition to that provided by Cook Children's, there are a variety of low-cost individual life insurance plans for full-time and half-time employees and dependents.
Long-term Disability This is paid for in full by Cook Children's with a benefit amount of up to 50% of base pay after six months of disability for full-time employees. Full-time and half-time employees may acquire supplemental long-term disability benefit up to 60% of base pay after six months of disability.
Short-term Disability Full-time and half-time employees may acquire short-term disability benefits up to 60% of base pay not to exceed $1,000 per week for up to 20 weeks after 45 days of disability.
Accidental Death & Dismemberment This is paid for in full by Cook Children's with a benefit amount of two times annual base salary for full-time employees.
Flexible Spending Accounts These accounts allow pretax payroll deduction for reimbursement of qualified medical and dependent day care expenses for full-time and half-time employees.
Retirement Plan After one year of eligible employment, Cook Children's will match 1% of salary into a 403B plan (up to 7.5% based on eligible years of service).

Child Development Center Kids’ Place is an on-site child development center managed by professional staff of Bright Horizons, Inc. Cook Children’s mission for the child development center is to provide innovative programs which help children and assist parents in balancing the daily demands of career and family. Affiliation with Local Wellness & Fitness Centers Affiliate memberships are available at several area centers including:
- Lockheed Martin Recreational Association
- Harris Hospital workout facility
- Carter Rehab Center at All Saints Hospital
Full-time employees can seek membership at a reduced rate.
Tuition Reimbursements Full-time employees are reimbursed for tuition and required fees equivalent to the Texas State tuition rate after one year of employment. Half-time employees are reimbursed up to one-half tuition and required fees on the same basis as full-time employees.
Employee Assistance Program This outside anonymous counseling service provides assessment and short-term counseling for employees and immediate family.
Adoption Program This program supports and encourages families who seek adoption of children. All full-time and half-time employees are eligible for this program upon completion of one year of employment. The Adoption Program provides a benefit for families that will help to defray costs associated with adoption agencies and legal fees.
Concierge Services Located at the medical center campus, these services are available to all employees and include laundry service, travel agency, transportation arrangements, party planning, massage therapy, ordering flowers and gift baskets, and much, much more!
Discount Tickets All employees have access to discount amusement park and movie tickets.
Direct Deposit and Group Banking Direct deposit is available with any financial institution. Cook Children’s currently partners with Bank One for a group-banking program.
