The United Way 2-1-1 Texas Information and Referral is a partnership among 25 area information centers and the Texas Health & Human Services Commission. The centers are nationally accredited with staff certified in the provision of information and referral and resource maintenance. 2-1-1 is an easy-to-remember 3-digit telephone number nationally designed for free access to non-emergency health and human services information and referral. In 2010 the top 5 requested needs related to electric bills, rent, food pantries, food stamps, and housing subsidies.
