Professional CoursesCook Children's fosters continued growth of great physicians, nurses and other health care professionals through continuing education on a variety of health care topics.

Educational events, such as weekly pediatric Grand Rounds and specialty conferences, offer health care professionals opportunities to learn from experts in pediatric health care and receive continuing education at the same time.

Our professional education programs also offer certification and recertification courses in all American Heart Association courses such as Basic Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support. We also offer certification courses for trauma nurses, emergency nurses, and chemotherapy providers.

Grand Rounds video library

Through our Grand Rounds video library, Cook Children's provides busy health care professionals an opportunity to receive current information on a variety of health care topics when and where it is convenient. These informational offerings are recorded from the Tuesday Grand Rounds and provide all heath care professionals an opportunity to learn from experts in pediatric health care.

HeartCode ACLS ProviderAdvanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) is higher-level course that emphasizes the significance of basic life support (BLS), highlights team dynamics, communication, systems of care, and immediate post-cardiac-arrest care.
HeartCode BLS Healthcare ProviderBasic Life Support (BLS) is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize severe life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner.
HeartCode PALS (Part 1 and 2)Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is an advanced course using a scenario-based, team approach to teach pediatric emergency respiratory management, recognition and treatment of shock and/or cardiac arrest.
HeartCode PALS Part 2 Skills Session ONLYCompletion of AHA PALS Part 1 (online course) is mandatory before taking Part 2 (skills check-off), and you must take Part 2 within 60 days of completing Part 1. Keep this in mind as you register for a Part 2 Skills Session.
