Professional courses

Professional CoursesCook Children's fosters continued growth of great physicians, nurses and other health care professionals through continuing education on a variety of health care topics.

Educational events, such as weekly Grand Rounds and annual conferences, offer health care professionals opportunities to learn from experts in pediatric health care and receive continuing medical education or continuing nursing education hours at the same time.

Our professional education programs also offer certification and recertification courses in all American Heart Association courses such as Basic Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support. We also offer certification courses for trauma nurses, emergency nurses, and chemotherapy providers.

Video Grand Rounds

Through Video Grand Rounds, Cook Children's provides busy physicians an opportunity to receive continuing medical education on a variety of health care topics when and where it is convenient. These educational offerings are recorded from the Tuesday grand rounds and provide all heath care professionals an opportunity to learn from experts in pediatric health care and receive continuing medical education credit at the same time.

Distance learning

Cook Children’s offers distance learning for students and school nurses. These video conferences and webcasts assist educators in providing timely information to students in our community about safety and help children understand what to expect if they come to our emergency or surgery departments. School nurses can also participate in webcasts on topics of special interest to them and receive continuing nursing education credits.
