You Can Make a Difference in the Life of a Child

Volunteers make a difference for patients and families at Cook Children’s every day by giving the gift of their time and energy in more than 50 departments in the medical center, community clinics and locations throughout Tarrant and Denton County.

Reading books, playing in the playroom, holding babies, directing visitors, educating parents about car safety and helping in the Enchanted Castle Gift Shop are a few ways our volunteers assist staff with providing care to patients and families. Volunteers have a variety of positions to choose from.

Adult volunteers must be 18 years of age or older, out of high school and meet screening and orientation requirements. Volunteer opportunities are offered mornings, afternoons and evenings, seven days a week. Placements are scheduled according to staff requests and the volunteer’s availability.

"My daughter was recently treated at Cook Children’s as an outpatient and then as an inpatient. I just wanted to say although my daughter’s situation was mild compared to others, the staff, doctors and facilities are awesome. No matter how far we have to drive, Cook Children’s is the place to be. Everyone there was absolutely amazing."
