You Can Make a Difference in the Life of a Child!

Volunteers make a difference for patients and families at Cook Children's every day by giving the gifts of their time, compassion, and energy. Volunteers have a variety of placements to choose from including playing with patients/siblings in the playrooms and waiting areas, holding babies, escorting visitors, educating parents about car seat safety, helping in the Enchanted Castle Gift Shop and more.

Adult volunteers must be 18 years of age or older, out of high school, meet screening and orientation requirements, and be able to commit to a minimum of 50 hours per year. Volunteer opportunities are offered mornings, afternoons and evenings, seven days a week. Placements are scheduled according to staff requests and the volunteer's availability, interests, and skills.

Application Process
The application process takes approximately three weeks. Applicants are considered for an interview after all the steps listed below have been completed.

  • Download, print out and complete the application, background check authorization, reference forms, and skillbank form. Download forms
  • Mail completed applications to:
    Volunteer Services
    Cook Children’s Medical Center
    801 Seventh Avenue

  • The two reference forms should be given to two different people you know well, but not family members. Please ask them to return the reference forms to Volunteer Services as soon as possible.

"My daughter was recently treated at Cook Children’s as an outpatient and then as an inpatient. I just wanted to say although my daughter’s situation was mild compared to others, the staff, doctors and facilities are awesome. No matter how far we have to drive, Cook Children’s is the place to be. Everyone there was absolutely amazing."
