At Cook Children's, taking care of kids means including the whole family. We take the time to listen to you and your child, answer questions and help you navigate parenthood.
Our doctors are specialists in the health care of infants, children and adolescents. Our team includes board certified pediatricians that, together with you, will get your kids on the path to leading happy and healthy lives.
Sandra Peak, M.D.
Dr. Peak attended Baylor University and received a B.A. in English and Psychology. She attended medical school at University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. Her Pediatric Residency was at Arkansas Childrens Hospital in Little Rock where she participated in Angel One emergency helicopter transport service and where she received the Jocelyn Elders Award for excellence in community service. She returned to her home town of Dallas in 1998 and established a Pediatric Practice in Carrollton, Texas. She joined Cook Childrens Physician Network in Lewisville in 2004. Dr. Peak enjoys gardening, yoga, and boating and in her spare time can be found at the lake with her husband Jay, stepson Sage and the world's most amazing Lab, Sugar Mae.
Justin Smith, M.D.
Dr. Justin Smith is the father of 3 young children and ready to join you in a team approach to caring for your child. He completed medical school at UT Southwestern and pediatric residency at Texas Children's Hospital. He gained 4 years of experience in Abilene working in a pediatric office as well as the NICU, pediatric hospital and PICU prior to joining Cook Children's in 2013. In his spare time he enjoys writing about pediatric care and parenting issues. He is an avid Mavericks and Aggie fan but will also talk with your family about ADHD, behavior problems, asthma, physical fitness and well child care.
Lizy Varughese, M.D.
Dr. Varughese received her undergraduate degree in biomedical science from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, and earned her medical degree from University of Texas Medical School in Houston, Texas. She completed her residency at Stony Brook University Hospital in Stony Brook, N.Y. She is board certified and available five days a week to see patients.
