Cook Children’s Medical Center

For more than 90 years, Cook Children’s has provided high-level care to patients from 35 states and 120 counties. The 285-bed Medical Center is the cornerstone for Cook Children’s Health Care System, and offers high-tech equipment, surgery, rehabilitation facilities and ancillary services all designed to meet the special needs of children.

The Medical Center has a professional staff of nurses, technologists, therapists and other clinicians, as well as more than 500 physicians and dentists on staff. Child Life staff, chaplains, teachers, social services coordinators and translators help patients and families cope with the stress that accompanies a child’s hospitalization. The Medical Center is home to the Cook Children’s Emergency Department, the only EMS-designated pediatric trauma center in Tarrant County, Texas, and more than 90,000 patients per year present to the ED for treatment.

Cook Children’s is supported by one of the country’s largest pediatric transport programs. More than 1,900 children are transported to the Medical Center annually, most for critical care. Services include ambulance, helicopter and fixed-wing airplane. The American Nurses Credentialing Center honored Cook Children’s Medical Center with Magnet designation, a coveted award of excellence in nursing care. The recognition means Cook Children’s nursing services ranks in the top 5 percent of the nation’s hospitals.

testimonials
"My daughter was recently treated at Cook Children’s as an outpatient and then as an inpatient. I just wanted to say although my daughter’s situation was mild compared to others, the staff, doctors and facilities are awesome. No matter how far we have to drive, Cook Children’s is the place to be. Everyone there was absolutely amazing."
