My child has

Dr. Van Maele has lived in Texas for 31 years. She currently lives with her husband of 38 years in Lantana, Texas. Her two grown sons, Josh and JP are practicing attorneys who live in Houston. Josh’s wife, Lilly, is also an attorney and has brought joy to family gatherings.
After a successful career in the corporate world, Dr. Van Maele realized it was time to pursue her childhood aspirations of a medical career.
“I remember telling my best friend that I was going to be a doctor when I grew up. I was ten years old at the time. Little did I suspect that the ‘growing up’ process would take half of my adult life and have a few interesting detours along the way,” Dr. Van Maele said.
Dr. Van Maele combined all that she had learned as a money manager, soccer mom, Sunday school teacher and community volunteer to prepare for medical school. Using all the patience, determination, and resiliency she gained from raising two boys, she completed medical school and residency training.
Dr. Van Maele decided to become a pediatrician because kids still believe in the magic of life. They have a contagious energy and pure spirit. She enjoys having the opportunity to help them grow and enjoy a healthy childhood. “As much as I love seeing ‘my kids’ and their parents, my goal is to see them once a year at their annual checkups,” Dr. Van Maele said. But when they are sick, I want them to be comfortable, and know that a trip to the doctor is going to help them feel better. I do believe in the old adage that “it takes a village” to raise a child. And, my heart sings when I walk in to a room and a child’s face lights up and a parent tells me that this munchkin woke up and asked to come see Dr. Van Maele because she’ll help him or her feel better (with the help of great stickers, a trip to the treasure box and a sugar free sucker). In the office Dr. Van Maele is known by her patients as Dr. Van.
