Epilepsy support groups

hand holdingCook Children's Neurosciences department is committed to giving parents, family members, and care-givers the knowledge and skills you need to help your child cope with epilepsy.

Our support groups help families:

Support group for parents of children with epilepsy

Each meeting begins with a specific topic presented by a professional with experience in caring for children with seizures. Following the speaker's presentation, there is time for open discussion so families can share their stories. Child care is provided for siblings and children under the age of six. There is no cost to participate. Dinner is provided at no charge.

Support groups for patients

We offer a support group for Children (ages 5-12) and Adolescents (ages 13-21). Each group is led by a Certified Child Life Specialist. The groups are held at the same time as the parent group. These child and adolescent support groups will help patients cope more effectively with their diagnosis and encourage socialization with peers who have a similar diagnosis. Camps for Kids

Sometimes the best support comes from the freedom to just be a kid. And having epilepsy shouldn't be a barrier. Cook Children's offers access to summer and winter camps, including:

Support group meetings

WHEN: Second Thursday, every other month, 6 – 7 p.m. A light dinner is served at 5:30 p.m. Three groups will be formed and meet independently:
