Recognition

Our nurses never settle for average. They continually strive for excellence in both the clinical side of their jobs and in the compassionate treatment of our patients and their families. We are proud of each and every nurse because they are a shining example of how we work to fulfill our promise to improve the health of every child in our region.

Through Cook Children's Great 10 Nurses, the Texas Nurses Association's District Three and Four Great 100 Nurses, and DAISY Award winners, Cook Children's recognizes the outstanding caregivers that stand out among their peers and exemplify the nursing profession. In addition, by naming ten non-nursing staff as Partners in Caring, Cook Children's acknowledges the vital role that non-nursing staff plays in providing exceptional care for our patients.

Cook Children's Great 10

Most of us can confidently say that “Great” is truly the right way to describe the care and attention given to each of our patients by all Cook Children’s clinical staff, partners in caring and, of course, our nurses. Because of that pride in their staff, the Nursing Department’s Rewards and Recognition Council is thrilled to select the best of the best each year and name them our Great 10 Nurses. Presented by Chief Nursing Officer Paula Webb, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, this year’s winners are:

Dallas/Fort Worth Great 100 Nurses for 2010

In addition one of our own was recognized as one of this year’s Great 100 Nurses: Team Trauma’s Sharon Evans, RN, BSN, CPN. Evans was honored at the DFW Great 100 Nurses ceremony earlier this month along side the other recognized nurses in Dallas-Fort Worth.
