John Wurz, DO

A Fort Worth native, Dr. Wurz is thrilled to return to his hometown to serve the greater community as a pediatric cardiac anesthesiologist. From a very young age, Dr. Wurz knew he wanted to become a physician when he was gifted his late grandfather's doctor bag that was used for house calls. It was while rotating as a 3rd-year medical student at Cook Children's Medical Center that he knew he wanted to primarily work with children to help relieve their pain and suffering.

Following medical school, Dr. Wurz completed anesthesiology residency and pediatric anesthesiology fellowship training at The University of Michigan. This was the same University where his childhood hero, his grandfather, graduated medical school in 1937. It was there that Dr. Wurz developed a passion for providing anesthesia to children with congenital heart disease.

Following training, Dr. Wurz practiced pediatric anesthesiology in the same city in Michigan that his grandfather had practiced medicine in over 40 years prior.

What Dr. Wurz enjoys most about his job is bringing peace and comfort to otherwise anxious families whose children need to undergo surgical or procedural interventions.

As a young man, Dr. Wurz earned his Eagle Scout Award. He subsequently went on to spend significant time in Mexico as a missionary where he became fluent in Spanish. Because of this experience, he has developed a special love and affinity for caring for his Spanish-speaking patients.

When Dr. Wurz is not practicing anesthesiology, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, golfing, serving in the community, and cheering on his beloved Texas Rangers baseball team.
