Hi, I'm Dr. Gummerson. I was born and raised in Idaho and knew from about the age of 6 that I wanted to become a doctor. If I'd only known back then what an exciting and rewarding career path lay ahead, I would've been truly amazed. After finishing my Anesthesiology residency training in the U.S. Air Force, I served as one of the Pediatric Anesthesiology Chief Fellows at Boston Children's Hospital (Harvard Medical School), where my passion for caring for sick children in the hospital setting was cemented. I returned to San Antonio, Texas where I served as an attending Pediatric Anesthesiologist in the active-duty Air Force until separating as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2017. As part of my active-duty military service, I deployed multiple times around the world on humanitarian missions and as a physician/team chief on the Critical Care Air Transport Team (CCATT). I safely cared for our critically wounded service men and women on specially designed fixed-wing aircraft (a flying Intensive Care Unit), while bringing these brave troops closer to home. These deployments—where I was able to witness true bravery and sacrifice from our wounded warriors—remain one of the greatest honors of my career. After leaving the Air Force, I moved to the Dallas-Fort Worth area with my family and joined the medical staff of the Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas, Texas. I moved up the leadership ranks and became lead anesthesiologist at the Scottish Rite for Children Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Center in Frisco, TX— where I remained until 2025. I'm thrilled to now bring my clinical talents, passion and leadership to join the flagship pediatric hospital, Cook Children's, and their outstanding team of pediatric anesthesiologists.
