Meet Dr. Swati Choudhry

Dr. Swati Choudhry is a pediatric cardiologist specializing in the care of children with advanced heart failure and cardiomyopathy, including those supported with ventricular assist devices and those who have undergone heart transplantation. Her clinical expertise spans the comprehensive management of complex heart failure, from medical therapy and mechanical circulatory support to pre- and post-heart transplant care.

Her academic interests include outcomes research and large database studies, particularly in patients with advanced heart failure, cardiac transplantation, and concurrent kidney disease. During her pediatric cardiology fellowship, she received the Outstanding Research Award in Pediatric Cardiology from the American Heart Association's Council on Cardiovascular Disease in the Young (2016), recognizing her innovative research on pediatric heart transplant patients with advanced kidney disease.

She completed her pediatric cardiology fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis and her advanced heart failure and transplant fellowship at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, Texas. Dr. Choudhry then served on the faculty at Texas Children's Hospital for more than seven years, where she cared for children with advanced cardiomyopathy and heart failure, including those requiring mechanical circulatory support and heart transplantation.
