Meet Dr. Luke Cielonko
At ten years old, I was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes. I was afraid and confused by the responsibility of checking my blood sugar, knowing everything that I ate, and taking my insulin. My family and I were now responsible for the course of my health. My fear dwindled, though, as I was filled with peace by the reassurance of my pediatrician. Through his own experience of having type 1 diabetes, he related to the doubt, the fear, and the life changes I would be facing. He showed me I could have a normal life, one in which I was managing my diabetes and not my diabetes managing me. I knew after this I wanted to be a pediatric endocrinologist so I could help others the same way.
Managing my diabetes has given me a passion for facing the complexities and subtleties required to live a happy, healthy life with a chronic disease. Through my pediatric residency training in Columbia, South Carolina and my fellowship training in endocrinology at Phoenix Children's I have an even greater appreciation and understanding of the relentless focus families need to care for their child. Whether it's diabetes or another complex disease I have a passion for families and children to understand their disease and to empower them to make the most of a difficult situation.
Outside of medicine I enjoy spending time with my family whether that's spending time outside, taking my dog for a walk, or having a dance party to Frozen or Encanto at home. I am the oldest of three and enjoy seeing my family now that we are back in the great state of Texas. I also enjoy being involved with my church community, rooting for the Green Bay Packers (Yes, I own a cheese head), gardening, playing the trumpet and supporting ministries like Compassion International where I write letters to my sponsor child.

Both the Ft Worth and Midland offices were run so efficiently, and all departments that we used (dr visit, blood draw, xray). Dr. Luke was so personable with my son and made him feel at ease in every part of the visit. He connected with him on a deeper level and had great medical, moral and character advice for him.
