Meet Dr. Susan Hsieh
Dr. Susan Hsieh has been a resident of Fort Worth, Texas almost all of her life, having moved to Texas at the age of five.
She's a dedicated Longhorn, having completed her undergraduate education at the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Hsieh received her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and did her pediatric residency and fellowship training at University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas. She has been practicing as a Pediatric Endocrinologist with Cook Children's since 2011.
Dr. Hsieh's interest in endocrinology began with diabetes but she enjoys all aspects of endocrinology. She's currently the Medical Director of the Diabetes Center at Cook Children's.
While she truly likes not only the complexity in endocrinology and diabetes, she especially enjoys the opportunity to get to know her patients and their families over the years.
"If I am open with them, it's easy for them to be open with me," she says. "I want them to know that their thoughts and opinions are being heard and taken seriously - for example, if they're scared, or if they don't understand something or have a question. This is especially true for the children who often times are not asked how they feel about what is happening.”?
At home, Dr. Hsieh has 2 boys and 2 dogs. In her spare time, she enjoys watching her boys play baseball, and likes to travel when the opportunity allows. Even though she is not terribly athletically inclined, she loves to participate in outdoor activities. Every year she takes a week to attend Camp Lancelot, the Cook Children's Diabetes camp. At the camp, she enjoys the opportunity to get to know the kids outside of being their doctor.

Regarding the Abilene clinic specifically from the front to the back, I can't remember the receptionists name but she is so kind every time, we absolutely adore the nursing staff and Dr. Hsieh is worth the drive even if we had to go to Fort Worth!!

Dr. Hsieh has always been great. She goes above and beyond to help my daughter feel comfortable and meet her where she is at. She is wonderful bedside manner and always makes me feel comfortable as well .Also, their is a receptionist who didn't heck us in but she has bee there for 10years or so and she recognized my daughter after not being there for 3+ years. She's great with kids and parents alone. Full of positive energy. I wish I could remember her name, but I'm sure you know who she is. She used to always wear braids, not this time, so my daughter didn't recognize her. Shes awesome!
