Meet Dr. Teena Thomas
Teena Thomas, M.D., knew she wanted to be a doctor for kids even before she started kindergarten as she was always trying to take care of babies and toddlers, including her younger sister. After completing high school in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, she went on to double major in biology & business and graduated summa cum laude from Austin College in Sherman, Texas. Dr. Thomas spent the next 11 years at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas where she completed medical school, pediatric residency and a fellowship in pediatric endocrinology.
Her passion for pediatric endocrinology was born at Camp Sweeney, a diabetic camp, where she worked during the summer and winter breaks during medical school & residency. She learned both the medical and personal aspects of managing type 1 diabetes and loved it! Through her pediatric training, she became interested in managing other endocrine conditions as well and knew that she had found her calling. Since joining Cook Children's Endocrinology and Diabetes team in 2013, she has developed a special interest in treating patients with Turner Syndrome. Dr. Thomas currently sees patients in Fort Worth, Hurst and Abilene.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons, traveling, exercising, hosting events and crafting.
