Meet Dr. Jennifer Han

As a young girl, Dr. Han's journey to becoming a pediatric hematologist-oncologist started following a volunteer experience at the local children's hospital in her hometown of Loma Linda, CA. Encountering heartfelt moments on the pediatric hematology-oncology unit, forming deeply human connections, and witnessing the resiliency of children facing life-threatening illnesses drew her to this career.

Dr. Han graduated from Loma Linda University School of Medicine, where she met her husband (a born Texan and devoted Dallas Cowboys fan). After completing her pediatric residency, Dr. Han completed both her fellowship in pediatric hematology-oncology, as well as an additional fellowship in pediatric hemostasis-thrombosis at University of California, San Diego (UCSD)/Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego. She was the recipient of the National Bleeding Disorders Foundation (NBDF)-Takeda Clinical Fellowship Grant to further enhance her knowledge and research in pediatric clotting and bleeding disorders.

Prior to joining the Cook Children's Team, Dr. Han co-led the pediatric thrombosis & stroke program at Indiana Hemophilia & Thrombosis Center (IHTC), one of the nation's top federally recognized hemophilia & thrombosis treatment centers, where she served as the site principal investigator for national & international pediatric thrombosis research studies through the Children's Healthcare Advancements in Thrombosis Consortium (CHAT) and International Society on Thrombosis & Hemostasis (ISTH). She also conducted research with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to evaluate the health outcomes of infants and toddlers with bleeding disorders.

Here at Cook, she has enjoyed serving as a pediatric hematologist, specializing in treating children & adolescents with blood disorders, with a focus in clotting conditions, stroke, and bleeding conditions. She has continued to collaborate with colleagues nationally and internationally in research endeavors, serving as Cook's site investigator for investigator-initiated clinical trials in pediatric thrombosis and as a sub-investigator for pediatric thrombosis, stroke, & bleeding disorder research studies through CHAT, ISTH, CDC, International Pediatric Thrombosis Network (IPTN), American Thrombosis & Hemostasis Network (ATHN), and International Pediatric Stroke Study (IPSS) Registry.

Dr. Han is most inspired by her patients and families and feels honored that she is able to get to know and help them through a time that is likely one of the most difficult and vulnerable in their lives. She is committed to taking care of them and providing the best possible care. This includes establishing a meaningful and honest relationship that goes beyond their medical condition, striving for advanced and state-of-the-art treatment, and for families and patients to know that they are truly the most important member of our team.

Outside of the hospital and clinic, she enjoys spending time with her family, the outdoors, practicing Pilates, and reading. She is grateful to be in Texas closer to family and friends again.
