Meet Dr. Meghan Murphy

I have never considered a career other than medicine. I began practicing my clinical skills as a little girl giving pretend check-ups to my stuffed animals and tending to siblings and pets when they were sick or hurt. That same impulse to care for others has guided my every step since then. A summer spent shadowing in a pediatric oncology clinic as an undergraduate sealed my fate as a future oncologist. I was fascinated by science and drawn to the deep connections fostered between patients, families, and providers. My journey took me through an undergraduate degree at the University of Georgia, medical school at the Medical College of Georgia/Augusta University, followed by pediatrics residency and hematology/oncology fellowship at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN.

Every patient's experience with cancer is unique to them, with different physical, social, and emotional symptoms that impact the way they feel and function. It's our duty to address these symptoms with skill and empathy to help each child and young adult live their best day to day despite their illness. Additional training in palliative medicine at Emory in Atlanta has allowed me to integrate additional pain and symptom management expertise into my oncology practice with a focus on "whole person" care based on each patient's individual goals and values. It's a privilege to bring this philosophy of care to the patients and families of Fort Worth and North Texas, and I'm so excited to serve this community.

Outside of work, I enjoy exploring local BBQ joints and music venues with my husband and spending time outdoors with our golden retriever Lucy – hiking, swimming, biking, and basking in the dry Texas heat.
