Meet Dr. Sadie Mason

Hi, I'm Dr. Mason! I've known since I was eight years old that I wanted to be a pediatrician. I grew up hearing stories about the impact my great-grandfather, a general practitioner in rural California, had on the community and knew that I also wanted to make a lasting impact in peoples' lives as a physician. During my pediatrics rotation in medical school, I fell further in love with the continuity that comes with caring for children with hematologic and oncologic conditions. A summer spent traveling to outreach clinics across Georgia to bring sickle cell disease care to patients who lived far from the main children's hospital piqued my interest in caring for patients with this disease and led me to a career as a pediatric hematologist.

A graduate of the University of Georgia - GO DAWGS! - I completed medical school at the Medical College of Georgia before moving to Milwaukee, Wisconsin for my residency in general pediatrics. After spending 4 years in the Midwest for my pediatrics training and a year as Chief Resident, I returned home to Atlanta for fellowship in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at Emory University/Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. While in fellowship, I studied the long-term impact of bone marrow transplant on patients with sickle cell disease, completing a Master of Science in Clinical Research.

I find the connections I make with patients and their families to be the most rewarding part of my job. I know what a privilege it is to walk with families as they navigate the ups and downs that come with living with the diseases myself and the hematology/oncology team treat, and am honored by the trust patients and families place in me. I am so excited to join Cook Children's and care for children with sickle cell disease and other hematologic conditions!

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, traveling, and cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs. I look forward to exploring Fort Worth and learning more about my new community!
