Meet Dr. Robert L. Ursprung

Dr. Ursprung completed his neonatology fellowship at Harvard Medical School/Boston Children's Hospital in 2004. While there, he developed his passion for patient safety and quality improvement. He also completed a two-year NIH funded research fellowship and a masters in medical science from Harvard Medical School. Dr. Ursprung is a practicing neonatologist at Cook Children's Medical Center Level 4 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Partnering with parents in the care of their infants is among the most satisfying experiences he has professionally. The focus of his non-clinical work continues to be clinical quality improvement and patient safety. He serves as the National Director of Quality and Safety for Neonatology at Pediatrix Medical Group. Pediatrix is a multi-specialty physician group that employs more than 1100 neonatologists who cover more than 300 NICUs throughout the United States. He also collaborates with other organizations regarding quality and safety initiatives, including serving on the database advisory committee for the Vermont Oxford Network.

When not at work, Dr. Ursprung enjoys time with his wife, two children (his oldest was a NICU patient) and their dogs. He's also an avid runner.
