Meet Dr. Linh Tran

I knew early on I wanted to become a physician. I wanted to be part of a field that provided a positive influence on someone's health and life, and the field of medicine provided those opportunities. During college at Baylor University, I decided to major in neuroscience, because it offered great balance of psychology and biology. I studied various aspects of the nervous system, and I realized neurology was a field I wanted to learn more about.

I grew up in the DFW area and attended medical school at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth. During my time in medical school, I led a medical mission trip in Costa Rica, and we worked mostly with children in remote areas of the country. These children were resilient, and they inspired me to pursue a field in pediatrics. Going back to my initial interests in neurology, I heard about the field of pediatric neurology from a medical school mentor. I decided to do a rotation in pediatric neurology with an incredible team of physicians at none other than Cook Children's. I learned about epilepsy and the role of an epileptologist, and I saw firsthand how this field can profoundly impact a child's development and quality of life. I decided to focus my career on helping children with seizures, and I am fortunate enough to come back to the institution that inspired me to pursue my field. I look forward to serving the community that I call home.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and cavalier King Charles spaniel, Chewie. Together, we enjoy traveling, cooking, fermenting foods, and hiking. I am also avid lover of Texas Country/Red Dirt music and will be looking forward to visiting some honky tonks!
