Meet Dr. Tanner Campbell

Introduction:
As a medical student, I was initially exposed to Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery and found myself captivated by the subspecialty. The unique opportunity to provide care for vulnerable pediatric patients and their caregivers resonated deeply with me. What drew me in even further was the remarkable diversity of conditions treated in this field, which allows for surgical and nonsurgical treatment to address pain, anatomical restoration, and improved musculoskeletal function.

Expertise:
My academic journey began at TCU, in our great city of Fort Worth. My journey then brought me to the Long School of Medicine at the University of Texas - San Antonio, where I received my medical degree. After this, I went to Kansas City to pursue my residency training in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Finally, I have been blessed with the opportunity to become fellowship trained with world-class leaders in the field of Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery at Rady Children's Hospital.

Commitment:
I have a particular passion for treating patients with limb differences, traumatic orthopedic injuries, sports injuries, and hip conditions with an emphasis on providing patients with hope in improving function through anatomic restoration. I enjoy academic advancement through collaborative learning, research, and innovation - as we are always able to improve upon the way we care for our patients. In addition to providing care at home, I am passionate about global health abroad through partnerships with surgeons in lower income countries and aim to participate in medical missions throughout my career.

Connection:
The most special parts of my life are at home: my wife and four beautiful children, each amazing in their own way. My time at home is predominantly focused on "embracing the joyful chaos" that comes with our young family. They make me a better surgeon and keep me focused on what is important and I aim to treat all my patients with compassion and believe my family helps me empathize with both parents and their children. Finally, my faith and spiritual life is paramount to who I am as a husband, dad, friend, and surgeon.

    We have been highly satisfied and impressed with the entire Cook Children's system through our daughter's surgery journey.
