Meet Dr. Emily Rav

Dr. Rav is a dedicated pediatrician with a profound commitment to supporting children and families through the challenges of cancer treatment. Inspired by a poignant book about a young boy's battle with brain cancer during her 7th-grade year, she initially aspired to become a brain surgeon. However, as she delved deeper into the medical field, her passion evolved toward pediatric oncology, with a focus on compassionate patient care rather than surgery.

Dr. Rav earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin before pursuing her medical training and a Master's degree at Touro University in California. She completed her pediatric residency at Maria Fareri Children's Hospital in Westchester, NY. Though her journey took her far from Texas, her dedication to her specialty brought her back for a three-year pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship at MD Anderson Children's Cancer Hospital.

During her fellowship, Dr. Rav discovered a profound interest in palliative care. She completed an additional fellowship in pediatric palliative care at MD Anderson, where she honed her skills in helping families navigate the complex and often difficult landscape of cancer treatment.

Now, Dr. Rav is excited to join the team at Cook Children's, where she will continue her mission of providing exceptional care. Her special interests include supportive oncology care, integrative medicine, alternative therapies, and pain management. Dr. Rav is committed to improving the quality of life for her patients and their families, ensuring that every child receives the compassionate, comprehensive care they deserve. Outside of the hospital, Dr. Rav enjoys spending time with her husband and son. Their favorite family outings include exploring the local ice cream shops and finding the best pasta and meatballs around.
