Meet Dr. Ali Mokdad

Ali Mokdad, M.D., M.S., is a pediatric surgeon specializing in a wide range of general pediatric surgical conditions affecting the chest and abdomen.

Dr. Mokdad completed his General Surgery residency at the University of Texas Southwestern, followed by a Pediatric Surgery subspecialty fellowship at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital. He is triple board-certified in General Surgery, Surgical Critical Care and Pediatric Surgery.

He is recognized for his expertise in the surgical management of tracheomalacia. Dr. Mokdad oversees the Cook Children's Tracheomalacia Program, one of the few centers in the nation performing advanced procedures such as posterior tracheopexy to correct this complex condition.

His significant experience also includes the surgical management of esophageal diseases, congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) and ECMO support. A dedicated academic, he has contributed to the field with over 40 peer-reviewed publications on these topics.

    I couldn't have asked for a better doctor for our little girl. From being concerned and worried parents, all of our questions were answered and his bedside manner was amazing. He didn't just jump right into scheduling surgery for our girl, like a previous doctor in Lubbock did. He weight the risks and made the decision to hold off on surgery until she was older and able to handle it better. You could tell he genuinely cares about his patients and that's all any parent could ask for.

    Dr. Mokdad, I am so grateful for him. This was my first time taking my daughter to this office. He was called last minute to fit her in his schedule and did it without any hesitation. He answered all our questions and concern and scheduled her for surgery the very next day due to her Issue and pain level. She is now home recuperating and In less pain because of Dr. Mokdad!
