Meet Dr. Daniel Lodwick
Growing up in Florida, I had no exposure to the medical field. I excelled at mathematics and physics and received my Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Florida. While there, I studied radiation safety and dose calculation from medical imaging in children. I received a Master's degree while completing my research project on building computer-based models of children for radiation dose calculation. To understand the need better, I began volunteering at the hospital in the Department of Radiology. I quickly recognized that I loved interacting with patients. I attended the University of Florida College of Medicine.
In medical school, I went on a mission trip to Nicaragua and fell in love with the surgical treatment of illness. The ability to see the disease and treat it immediately is unparalleled. And for children, the impact is powerful and lasting.
I left Florida to complete general surgery training at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. While in Ohio, I received a research grant from the Society for University Surgeons that allowed me to complete a research fellowship at Nationwide Children's Hospital. This fellowship focused primarily on two projects: imaging in surgical patients and how to educate and activate parents to make the best medical decisions for their child. After this, I completed Pediatric Surgery Fellowship at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, Tennessee at both LeBonheur Children's Hospital and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. During this time, I gained experience in both advanced minimally invasive surgery as well as world-renowned surgical care for childhood cancer.
I often say, "Love what you do and you'll never work a day in your life" (adapted from Mark Twain). I love taking care of children. I enjoy talking with parents about their child and coming to a shared decision about the best course of action.
When I'm not at work, you can usually find me in the garden with my wife and three children trying to grow the perfect brandywine tomato. I also enjoy hiking, camping and skydiving.

Pre-and postop nurses were both 10 out of 10. Both of these ladies deserve an outstanding review. They handled my daughter with the upmost care, physically and emotionally. Our surgeon was also a 10 out of 10. He took his time, I never felt rushed While asking questions even if they were on the silly side. My overall experience with cooks was absolutely outstanding. Even the volunteer check in woman was an absolute delight.

Dr Lodwick showed excellent care and my son and I felt very comfortable with him. He explained the diagnosis and the upcoming procedure in a way that we could understand. Dr Lodwick was joyful and kind and I feel very confident about him doing a surgery on my son! If asked, I would give him my highest recommendation possible!!
