Meet Dr. Alison Hsu

I knew from a very young age that I wanted to work with children. I looked up to my teachers, coaches, and pediatricians and admired the joy and optimism they brought to their work. While I considered becoming a teacher, librarian, or speech pathologist, I was always drawn back to the idea of being a pediatrician. Now, after several years in practice, I'm so grateful that my young patients continue to fill me with the same joy and optimism I always valued in my own caregivers.

I grew up in Plano but left Texas to attend college at Northwestern University in Chicago before returning home for medical school at the University of Texas at Houston. I was thrilled to complete my residency at UT Southwestern and even more thankful to find my first job as a pediatrician just minutes from the home where I grew up. In 2014, I joined Starside Pediatrics in Frisco and built a wonderful practice there until 2025, when we transitioned to Cook Children's. I love meeting families from all over who are putting down roots in our community. I believe no question is too small, and I've learned so much from both new and experienced parents. I also enjoy when my patients ask questions, giving me the opportunity to teach them about their health in ways they can understand.

Over the years, I've welcomed two children of my own and picked up countless tips and tricks from my patients and their families—wisdom I'm always excited to share. I know firsthand that raising a child is a wonderful and exciting journey, but it can also be overwhelming. I do my best to ease fears, provide guidance, and help families navigate the ups and downs of parenthood.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my husband, a pharmacist, and our two rapidly growing children—each of whom constantly teaches me new things that help shape my practice. As a family, we enjoy experimenting with baking (with varying degrees of success), exploring arts and crafts, spending time with extended family, and discovering new places in nature. I also love puzzle games, video games and reading.

I'm so excited to continue growing my practice with Cook Children's and to be part of a team dedicated to providing compassionate and comprehensive care to children across the DFW area.
