Meet Dr. Karin Ayer

Hi, I'm Dr. Ayer. My first rotation in medical school was obstetrics and, in those first moments, I realized that in the chaos of a delivery room my focus was on the baby. Since then, I've been dedicated to pediatrics. The variety in presentations from newborns to adolescents has made a fun and exciting career.

After completing education at the University of Notre Dame and University of Texas, I finished my pediatric training at the University of Tennessee and St Jude Children's Research Hospital. The first part of my career was in primary care general pediatrics in Memphis, and then Wichita Falls. Before joining Cook Children's, I had a house call practice for 5 years. I've enjoyed the transition to Cook Children's Urgent Care as it allows me to better employ my experience and breadth of knowledge in a fast paced, teamwork oriented and medically diverse environment.

Outside of work, I'm a wife, mom to three children and a proud Notre Dame alum. I enjoy travel, hiking and watching my kids play sports.
