Meet Dr. Rachel Hamilton

Being a kid at heart, it was natural to be drawn to being a pediatrician. She knows every word of most Disney songs, and she can often be found singing "Baby Shark" to her younger patients during a checkup, or empathizing with the drama and eye rolls of pre-teens and teenagers.

Her philosophy of medicine is to proactively promote good health and prevent illness. Recommendations for ideal toys/games for various aged children and exercises to help them reach maximum developmental ability are a part of patient checkups. It is important to catch small issues before they turn into problems, such as babies with atypical head shape, breastfeeding latch issues, and children with digestive issues, anxiety or school concerns.

Life-long learning and evidence-based medicine are the foundation of what Dr. Hamilton does. She obtained her bachelor's degrees in chemistry and biology and graduated as a President' s Scholar from Southern Methodist University, with minors in mathematics and religious studies.

She attended medical school at Johns Hopkins, and graduated from the University of Texas - Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. She completed her pediatric residency at the University of Texas at Austin - Dell Medical School. She is a member of the medical honor society Alpha Omega Alpha, and has been recognized for humanism in medicine.

Her office, which has an x-ray machine and lab, generally holds weekend hours from 8-noon on both Saturday and Sunday. Communication is important, and she encourages parents to feel free to email her with questions and photos to help assure a correct diagnosis (rashes, symptoms, etc.).

Dr. Hamilton is accepting new patients, and welcomes expectant parents to meet with her in the office before delivery to get to know each other better. She looks forward to playing an important role in the health of your children!

On a personal note, she is married to David Hamilton and enjoys traveling, SCUBA diving, bass fishing and other outdoor activities. Her favorite childhood sports were basketball and soccer. She can often be found fishing along the Trinity River or biking along the trails. ?She is a member at St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Dr. Hamilton is so incredibly kind. She loves her patients. She's very knowledgeable. She knows her practice. She knows what the kids need, but she's also loving and nurturing at the same time and I would recommend Dr. Hamilton and her nurses and her entire staff anybody. We love them. – Patient family

    Dr. Hamilton - there is no one like her. I can't recommend her enough to all of my friends having babies. We drive 20 minutes to see her because she is amazing. Her bedside manner, thorough explanation of things, and overall care for my kids (and no doubt all the kids she treats) makes me put total trust in her as our pediatrician.

    I like that the waiting room wasn't crowded. It seemed like everyone was busy backstage and given all the viruses going around it's very busy, but I never felt overwhelmed by anything thing on. So I see that as a good thing.
