Meet Dr. Sharon L. Jackson
Ten years of age is when I made the decision to be a pediatrician. My dad retired from the Air Force and we moved to Oklahoma City where I started a new school and met my new best friend. Her mother, who was my pediatrician, and her dad, the first black OB Gyn in OK,C influenced my path towards medicine.
Along with encouragement from my parents I maintained that path. I received my B.S in Biology from Lincoln University in Jefferson City MO. My M.D. from Howard University College of Medicine in Washington D.C., and went on to complete my residency at the University of Maryland Medical System in Baltimore, Maryland. I believe my exposure to living overseas at a young age sparked an interest in travel. I spent a month volunteering in Kajabi, Kenya after finishing residency and volunteered a week in Haiti a year after the big earthquake. I have also been blessed to travel to Asia, Europe and the Caribbean.
As a major in the United States Air Force, I served as a physician on staff seeing children and also overseeing the vaccination of troops prior to deployment.
In 2011, I began teaching newborn classes to expectant young mothers at my church. I speak to them about how to find a pediatrician, what to expect in the delivery room and what the pediatrician does after the baby is delivered. I educate them about vaccines and breastfeeding.
In my free time, I enjoy traveling, of course. My hobbies include shopping and reading about history. I am married and we have 2 boys who I love dearly and I always encourage them to pursue their dreams and never be afraid to work hard. ?

Dr. Jackson is a wonderful doctor. We gone to her since my son was 4 and he's 15 now. We live in Grand Prairie for the past 4 years but I won't switch doctors.

My overall experience with CookChildren's is always pleasant but I have to give my praises to Dr. Jackson. She steps outside of medicine just for a second and talks to me as a close friend. She genuinely cares on a personal level. She's not just a talk science from a text book kind of Doctor. She treats us as humans not a science project.
