Meet Dr. Uma Maduekwe

Dr. Maduekwe is new to Cook Children's but this marks a return to Texas for him. His undergraduate studies were at the University of Texas at Dallas, with several friends and family in the Dallas Fort-Worth area. His medical and surgical training have mostly been in the Chicago area, first at Northwestern for medical school and then at Loyola for General Surgery and then Plastic Surgery. He completed two fellowships; one in Craniofacial Surgery and the other in Hand and Microsurgery at Johns Hopkins University and Southern Illinois University, respectively.

Such training allows him to treat conditions, both congenital and traumatic, that affect the pediatric patient, with a focus on craniofacial and hand problems. He also has a keen interest in peripheral nerve surgery.

His primary hobby is photography, and, as an avid sports fan, he supports the Cowboys, Mavericks and Longhorns. He hopes to be able to travel the world with his wife and daughter, who is a budding artist herself.
