Meet Dr. Esra Caylan

Hi, I'm Dr. Caylan. I started my medical journey in Istanbul, Turkey and graduated from Istanbul University Cerrahpasa Faculty of Medicine. I moved to the United States after medical school and finished my residency at the Metropolitan Hospital Center, New York, and my pediatric pulmonology fellowship at Maria Fareri Children's Hospital, New York Medical College.

Before joining Cook Children's, I served as an assistant professor of pediatrics at Baystate Children's Hospital in Massachusetts, where I directed the Assisted Ventilation Clinic and was associate director of the Cystic Fibrosis Center. Most recently, I was on faculty at UT Southwestern/Children's Health in Dallas, where I provided pediatric pulmonology care while teaching and mentoring medical students, residents and fellows.

My clinical interest includes pulmonary manifestations of neuromuscular diseases, asthma and cystic fibrosis.

In addition to my clinical work, I'm passionate about community health and education. Through the Whitetulip Health Foundation, I've organized health education seminars for underserved populations and organized COVID-19 hotline support during the pandemic. Currently, I'm the director of the Whitetulip Health Foundation Public Health Education Department.

Outside of medicine, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our three children.
