Meet Dr. Leigh Anna Stubbs
Growing up in Lubbock, Texas, my journey to becoming a doctor was ignited by my biggest inspiration: my mother. As a rheumatoid arthritis warrior and nurse, she has a diverse and fascinating background in medicine including infectious disease, cardiology, gastroenterology, and as part of a medical helicopter crew. Through her, I discovered a deep sense of purpose in helping others during their most vulnerable moments.
Throughout my college and medical school journey, I explored many different fields of medicine, but the joy and fulfillment I experienced while caring for young patients led me to pediatrics and, ultimately, pediatric rheumatology. By caring for kids with juvenile idiopathic arthritis, juvenile dermatomyositis, localized scleroderma (morphea), systemic lupus erythematosus, systemic scleroderma, vasculitis and other rheumatology related conditions, I realized that this was my true calling.
Pediatric rheumatology is an exciting field with new discoveries and treatments continuing to be found! It blends the art and science of medicine, allowing me to unravel complex diagnostic puzzles and provide tailored treatment plans. As a pediatric rheumatologist, my mission is to be your trusted guide on your child's journey with a chronic autoimmune condition. I understand that this path may have been filled with months of uncertainty before reaching a specialist, but together, we will illuminate the way to a diagnosis and the next steps ahead. My ultimate goal is to achieve remission or relieve the symptoms of the condition, always keeping your child's well-being at the forefront. We may encounter relapses or "flares" along the way, but fear not, as we will navigate these together, adjusting our course as needed. Families are at the heart of my care approach, and I'm here to support, educate, and empower you throughout this journey.
Beyond patient care, I actively engage in national scientific organizations and societies such as the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Rheumatology. By staying connected and up to date with the latest advancements, I ensure that my patients receive the highest quality of care. Additionally, I have had the privilege of sharing my knowledge and expertise at national and regional conferences. I'm actively engaged with the Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance (CARRA) as well as involvement in the Scleroderma Foundation.

Everything was exceptional- from the atmosphere to the caring team of specialist we were in contact with. Everything was very efficient from the valet parking , dedicated checking-in area, having notes and paperwork ready for us to take back to my daughter's school, the pharmacist showing with props have to give injections and EpiPen style medications, the child life specialist explanation how to swallow pills in a kid friendly way, the offering of squishes to hold before and during lab work, etc. Thank you for all you do to make the process as easy as possible for both us as parents and for my child.'

Dr. Stubbs was amazing and exceeded our expectations. She took the time to listen and engage with us concerning my daughter's past medical history which was much appreciated. We are confident in her recommendations. I also highly appreciate that she took the time to have both the pharmacist and child life to come to talk with us to make sure we were clear in everything. I do not remember their names, but they were both amazing as well.They even had another child life specialist meet us in the lab area to talk to my daughter before her lab work and be present during as well. We could not have asked for a more compassionate, knowledgable, or attentive team to help us navigate my child's medical needs.

Dr. Stubbs is truly a phenomenal doctor. She listened to all my concerns, and really spent time trying to determine what was wrong. She made sure to create a treatment plan I was comfortable with, and was extremely thorough. I cannot say enough good things about her.
