Meet Dr. Krystle R. Farmer
Dr. Krystle Farmer spent much of her childhood watching and playing sports. Coming from a competitive family, the field provided a great mental outlet, while also providing an avenue for friendships. Her initial academic interest was mathematics, but after taking a high school anatomy class, she was drawn to medicine and the path continued.
Attending Florida Gulf Coast University, Dr. Farmer was a Biotechnology Major, with a Minor in Chemistry and Business Management. Following undergrad, she went on to medical school at the University of South Florida in Tampa. While being close to family and enjoying the year round weather was great, she grew up in North Texas and was happy to return for residency.
When choosing a specialty, sports medicine was a perfect fit, as it combined two of her favorite things, medicine and sports! Injuries can be heartbreaking for young athletes, but Dr. Farmer finds it extremely rewarding to be a part of her patients' recovery process and loves to see their joy when returning to something they love.
She joined Cook Children's team in 2015 as part of the orthopedic department. She's continued helping with sideline coverage for Trimble Tech High School, this will be her ninth season with the team. She credits a good deal of her success to the continual support from her husband, Tim, and their two kids, Preston and Julia.
Away from work Dr. Farmer enjoys family time, gardening and playing outdoors. She loves dance parties with her kids and playing T-ball in the yard with Preston. She also takes frequent walks with her two dogs, Molly and Sherlock.
Dr. Farmer is amazing and patient. She understands my child and recommends what is best for her and her individual needs. She clearly explained what was causing the pain and what our options were to resolve it. She printed the x-rays for us so that we could show her coaches what the issue was and to make it easier to explain. She is the BEST!

The trainee at checkout was fantastic in accommodating our needs. I appreciate Dr. Farmers peaceful and reassuring personality/energy. She was the first doctor my son has felt comfortable around. She was knowledgeable but explained things in simplified terms for all to understand. We look forward to our follow up appointment!

Check in at the clinic is always very quick and everyone is always so kind and positive! Dr. Farmer does an amazing job of listening, answering questions, and providing individualized care plans for athletes. She is compassionate, thoughtful, and a very good teacher.

The sports ortho who saw her was extremely informative and thorough. She answered all of our questions in great detail, which was so appreciated by us as my daughter is a pitcher, and she sustained an injury during a pitching lesson, and we wanted to make sure she got correct diagnosis and ongoing direction. She was top-notch!
