Video visits make it easy to see your child's health provider without leaving home, and using the MyCookChildren's app makes these visits easy. This article will walk you through how to get ready for your child's virtual appointment.

Step 1: download the Zoom app

Download the Zoom app on your mobile device using either the Apple or Google app store. Don't worry about creating an account. You can log in as a guest for your video visit. (Note: if you already have the Zoom app on your mobile device you can skip this step)

Step 2: log in to begin your video visit check-in

  1. Log in to your MyCookChildren's app.
  2. On the MyCookChildren's app home screen, choose the child's profile who has the video visit. You'll see their name in bold at the top of the screen to make sure you're in the right spot.
  3. Select the three dots (ellipsis) located towards the top right of the app screen to go to the “Shortcuts” screen.

Step 3: using shortcuts

On the “Shortcuts” screen, you'll see a list of options. Tap “Visits”. You'll be taken to the Appointments page where you'll find a listing of your child's appointments and visits.

Step 4: visits and appointments

The “Appointments” screen lists your child's visit and appointment information.

Upcoming appointments are usually near the top of this screen, but you may have to scroll down to find your child's video visit.

Tap the video visit you'd like to check in for, and you'll be taken to a page with more details for your child's appointment.

If you don't see the video visit listed, or if it shows as an office visit instead, reach out to the clinic directly. They'll be able to help.

Step 5: begin eCheck-In

Once you've selected the appointment, you'll be taken to a screen to start the “eCheck-In” process. Tap “Begin” listed to the right of “eCheck-In” to start. Please note: you can begin the eCheck-in process up to 7 days before the appointment.

Step 6: join video visit

When you have completed the eCheck-In process for the video visit, the “Join video visit” button will be green indicating that you are able to join the video call.

Please note: you will not be able to join the video call any earlier than 30 minutes before your scheduled video appointment.

Step 7: begin video visit on Zoom:

    1. When you tap the green “join video visit” button, you will be redirected to the Zoom app to begin your visit with your health provider.
    2. Before joining the meeting, enter your name in the Zoom app.
    3. You will then be prompted to select Wi-Fi/Cellular data or dial-in to join with audio.

Please note: if you are having audio troubles, try verifying you have selected the “Join audio” button as shown below.

That's it! You should now be in the video call. If you joined a little early, your provider will have to admit you into the call once they have joined as well.
