Construction Updates: Fort Worth Campus

We’re growing to better serve our patients, families and staff with the expansion of our medical center in Fort Worth. As construction progresses, you may notice temporary changes to parking and walking paths around campus. We know these adjustments can be inconvenient, and we’re committed to keeping you informed every step of the way so your visit can be as smooth as possible. 

IMPORTANT. Please allow at least 15 extra minutes to get to your intended appointments. If you are running late, be sure to call the department as soon as possible, and inform them how late you may be. Please drive safely and be mindful of pedestrians around the campus.  

Where are you going?

Going west on I-30:

  1. Take 8th Ave exit

Vehicle traffic updates

  • 8th Avenue between Humbolt Street and Rosedale Street: All lanes reduced to one lane each way. 
  • Southland Avenue west of 7th Avenue: All lanes closed.
  • 9th Avenue between Pruitt Street and Cooper Street: All lanes closed. 750 parking lot is accessible.
  • Humbolt Street: All lanes closed.
  • 6th Avenue between Terrell Avenue and Humbolt Street: All lanes closed.
  • Terrell Avenue between 6th Avenue and South Lake Street: Terrell Avenue reduced to one lane each way.

Pedestrian walking updates

  • Sidewalks closed:
    • North side of Terrell Avenue and east side of 8th Avenue around West Tower jobsite.
    • North side of Pulaski Street, west side of 6th Avenue and both sides of Humbolt Street around SUP expansion jobsite.
    • East side of Terrell Avenue between Humbolt Street and Pulaski Street.
    • West side of 6th Avenue between Terrell Avenue and Humbolt Street.
  • Crosswalks closed:

Parking lots and garages updates

  • Terrell Avenue garage: 
    • 6th Avenue exit closed. Exit through physician parking area.
  • 7th Avenue garage:
    • Level 2: No access 11/25-1/28
    • North stairwell: Closed 12/1-12/24

Learn why we're growing

As Fort Worth continues to experience rapid growth, the demand for specialized pediatric care has increased significantly. To address this need, Cook Children’s is preparing to embark on a 10-year master plan, beginning with the construction of a new 760,000-square-foot medical tower, referred to as the West Tower. This plan will allow for a new and improved Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), an expanded Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), as well as additional capacity for our Hematology and Oncology Center, operating rooms, and imaging services.
