Meet Dr. Michelle Craven
Michelle Craven is a native of Fort Worth and a graduate of Rice University in Houston, where she triple majored in Economics, Managerial Studies and Spanish Linguistics. Although she diversified her undergraduate education she always knew in her heart she wanted to become an anesthesiologist. She completed most of her medical training in Texas then moved to Los Angeles, California to complete a fellowship in pediatric anesthesiology. After a great experience on the west coast she was excited to return home to Fort Worth and join the Cook Children's Anesthesia team in November 2012. She has board certifications in Anesthesiology and Pediatric Anesthesiology through the American Board of Anesthesiology.
"With two daughters, five nieces and two nephews, my love for children has become more personal and meaningful over the years. During residency, I quickly learned how much I enjoyed caring for the pediatric population and I truly feel blessed to have the opportunity and privilege to serve as an anesthesiologist at Cook Children’s. With each and every patient my goal is always to provide safe, quality care, while making the entire surgical experience comfortable and pleasant, both for the patient and family. I love interacting with my pediatric patients telling jokes, drawing balloon animals or being creative to do whatever else makes them feel at ease during an otherwise stressful time."
As a sports enthusiast and athlete, Dr. Craven has played multiple sports throughout her life and was a Division I varsity volleyball player at Rice University. During her residency training at UT Southwestern in Dallas, she competed in figure competitions earning professional athlete status with the International Federation of Bodybuilding as a figure and fitness competitor. She enjoys implementing good nutrition, health and wellness into her everyday life and tries to be a good role model for others. She enjoys pilates, weightlifting, reading, coffee, healthy cooking and spending time with her husband and two girls.
