Meet Valerie Ward

I'm Valerie Ward, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner! I've known that I wanted to work in the medical field since my teen years. In my mid-teens, I had surgery at a local children's hospital and had the absolute best nursing team who calmed my very anxious nerves and made a scary experience a profoundly positive one. I knew that I wanted to create a positive impact in the lives of children through my career, just as those nurses had for me.

I've been working in pediatrics for 21 years. I truly love serving our patient population and their families; it is an honor that they trust me to care for them.

The part of my job I find most rewarding is counseling families on healthy behaviors and seeing their very hard work pay off. I also love to see children grow and meet their many milestones, to the awe of their adoring parents.

Outside of work, I love to spend time with my family, read, crochet, take photos, do yoga, and travel. I have 2 wonderful children who inspire me to be the best provider I can be. I've learned so much in caring for their needs through the years and have brought that into my practice.

Cook Children's is the absolute best place to work! This organization truly cares about each child and family who walks in our doors. They work to support us well and provide many ancillary services. We are then able to support the patients and families we serve in a multitude of ways.

    All of the staff here is amazing. They are very professional and considerate. The office is always clean and orderly. There is almost never an extended wait. The nurses and providers are friendly and gentle with my baby and listen to all of our concerns. We drive a little further to go to this location because of how much I trust the care of the providers and nurses. They also respond very quickly to medical questions I submit online which is awesome! I'm very thankful for the staff and happy we found this office for our first baby!

    PA Val did an outstanding job being diligent in examining [...] and ensuring all concerns were addressed. She clearly explained every step she was working through to manage his fevers, mouth sores, and dehydration. She is an excellent example of top notch healthcare.
