Meet Dr. Shweta Vadlamani

As a child, Dr. Vadlamani dreaded trips to the doctor's office. To her, they meant scary shots-and another chance for her parents to lecture her about eating too many sweets. These early experiences left a lasting impression, and as she grew older and began caring for patients of her own, she made it her mission to transform the clinical experience. Today, her goal is to create a space that prioritizes patient safety, health, and-most importantly-fun.

Dr. Vadlamani's philosophy is simple: let the adults handle the boring stuff-medications, side effects, and concerns-while she focuses on making visits engaging and enjoyable for children. She believes there is tremendous value in observing how children play, explore, and interact with their environment, and she strives to make every appointment a positive experience for both patients and parents.

Her dedication to advocacy began long before medical school. As an undergraduate, Dr. Vadlamani volunteered in domestic violence shelters, providing resources to pediatric victims. She helped establish free clinics for refugee communities and conducted well-child checks for underserved and uninsured families. Throughout college and medical school, she also mentored young girls aspiring to careers in STEM.

Dr. Vadlamani earned her medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine, where she also completed her general psychiatry residency and served as chief resident. Beginning her training during the COVID-19 pandemic, she quickly learned that offering hope and empathy can be just as healing as finding the right medication. She went on to complete her child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, where she was honored with the "Outstanding Fellow Contribution to Medical Education" award for her commitment to teaching and mentorship.

Dr. Vadlamani finds particular fulfillment in working with patients who have neurodevelopmental conditions and complex medical comorbidities. A lifelong learner, she stays current with the latest research and emerging therapies, always aiming to integrate cutting-edge knowledge into personalized, compassionate care. She partners closely with families to develop holistic, cohesive treatment plans that support each child's well-being-while never losing sight of what makes childhood special: having fun.
