Meet Dr. Robert Loar
Dr. Loar is a native Texan, born and raised in Houston. He attended Texas Christian University where he received a degree in biochemistry. After college, Dr. Loar attended the University of Texas - San Antonio branch for medical school. He went on to complete his residency training in pediatric and adolescent medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. It was at Mayo where Dr. Loar was first exposed to and came to love pediatric cardiology. He completed his pediatric cardiology fellowship at Texas Children’s Hospital, where he served as the program’s chief fellow from 2016-2017 and was awarded for his service to co-workers, patients, and their families. Dr. Loar then completed additional training in advanced non-invasive cardiac imaging. He was a faculty pediatric cardiologist for 2 years at Texas Children’s Hospital before joining the medical staff at Cook Children’s at the beginning of 2020.
Dr. Loar has clinical and research interests in the prevention and diagnosis of cardiovascular disease in pediatric patients with cancer, patients with a single ventricle, and cardiomyopathies. Dr. Loar is trained in general pediatric cardiology, transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography, fetal echocardiography, and cardiac MRI.
When he’s not working, Dr. Loar is busy raising his 3 children with his wife. He is a proud (sometimes obnoxious) TCU alumnus. He enjoys golf, fishing, and college football. He and his family love the people and city of Fort Worth.

The staff was very patient with my daughter. She has PTSD moment meltdowns in hospital settings. She was refusing to let them image her, but with patience, they were able to.

Both times he was diagnosed AML they were there by OUR sides! On the days I couldn't pull myself together they were there by my side! When he first entered the hospital to this current day they have been by his side!

We really enjoyed our appointment with Dr. Loar & his team. We have been on the hunt for some answers for several months now, & every provider we have dealt with in the Cooks system has been amazing. Dr. Loar was especially good at explaining things & easing our minds about some of the issues our child has been having. He explained things very clearly to both us & our child. I have already suggested him & the other Cooks doctors we've dealt with to several friends with kids dealing with similar issues. Thank you for having such a wonderful system of doctors that we can trust!

Dr. Loar is amazing I met him for the first time while still pregnant with my son and learned about his condition, he answered every question and made me feel at ease that he would be well taken care of. Now that my son is born Dr.Loar makes me feel so confortable knowing that he is in great hands and he will be working with his other doctors to coordinate his plan of care.

Dr. Loar seems very thourough and empathetic. I am pleasantly surprised by his professionalism and bedside manner. I didn't think anyone could fill Dr. Dr. Redinger's shoes but Dr. Loar certainly has me betting that he just might be able to do exactly that, and then some.
