Meet Dr. Tina Barbaro Dieber
Dr. Tina Barbaro Dieber attended the University of California, Irvine, where she earned her Bachelor's of Arts degree in Anthropology and her Bachelor's of Sciences degree in Biological Sciences. Upon graduation, she was elected to Lambda Alpha National Anthropology Honor Society and received an award for Excellence in Research in the Biological Sciences. Dr. Barbaro Dieber earned her Doctorate in Medicine from Saint Louis University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. During medical school, Dr. Barbaro Dieber founded Project S.O.S. (Supplies Over-Seas), a student-run organization that aims to recycle medical equipment and send supplies to third world nations. Upon graduation, she was awarded the John H. Gladney Foundation: Appreciation of Diversity Award. Dr. Barbaro Dieber did her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at The Methodist Hospital and her fellowship in Genetics at the University of Texas Health Science Center, both in Houston, TX. In 2007, she was awarded the Best Resident Teacher of Medical Students at The Methodist Hospital, Houston. She authored the OTIS (Organization of Teratology Information Specialists) Fact Sheet entitled "Lupus in Pregnancy," and revised the chapter entitled "Abdominal Pain in Pregnancy," in Case Files: Obstetrics and Gynecology (July 2009). She presented her research poster entitled, "Increased mortality among children born with orofacial clefts" at the American Society of Human Genetics national meeting in 2010.
Dr. Barbaro Dieber speaks both Italian and Spanish, and enjoys being able to provide quality healthcare for both English and Spanish-speaking patients. She takes pleasure in establishing long-term relationships with her patients and their families. She staffs the outreach Genetics clinics in Waco and Denton, TX and enjoys this added challenge.
