Meet Dr. Sheela Patel
My passion is treating and caring for children! I was drawn to pediatric dental care during my training at dental school and I felt that it was my calling. I participated in several programs where we provided free dental screenings and treatment to underserved children in rural areas. I was also able to take part in educational activities to increase awareness of oral health and discuss the importance of taking care of teeth at a young age. During my pediatric dental residency program, I gained valuable knowledge and insight on treating children from various populations such as those with special health care needs, medically compromising conditions and syndromes. The extensive specialized training that I received at Baylor College of Dentistry, Children's Medical Center in Dallas and Texas Scottish Rite Children's Hospital helped guide and inspire me towards a career in hospital dentistry.
I have also been fortunate to travel the world on a mission trip and provide dental treatment to those children who do not have access to care. All of these experiences furthered my drive and desire towards a career in pediatric dentistry! I am a strong advocate of preventative dentistry. I believe in the importance of educating families on how oral health of children can not only affect their ability to eat and speak, but it can also affect their overall health and well-being. I also love showing children that dentistry can be fun! My goal is to provide a positive, non-threatening dental experience and build a lasting trust with children.
Outside of the office, I enjoy spending quality time with my family and 2 young children. I also enjoy being outdoors, reading, working out, music, dancing and traveling.
