Meet Dr. Allison Chisholm

Growing up, Dr. Chisholm idolized her grandfather- a prominent small and large animal veterinarian in their community. Her time spent with him as a child led her to develop a deep love of and appreciation for both medicine and surgery. Her particular interest in Otolaryngology flourished during her medical school training at Temple University School of Medicine. She subsequently completed her residency training in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at the University of Mississippi Medical Center where she decided to pursue further training in Pediatric Otolaryngology. She completed fellowship training at the Children's Medical Center through the University of Texas-Southwestern. She is Board Certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery.

Dr. Allison Chisholm was thrilled to join the Cook Children's Otolaryngology team in 2018. "The ability to impact a child's life, and in turn a whole family, has been one of the most rewarding experiences I've had as a physician." Dr. Chisholm believes in the importance of practicing evidence based medicine and places an emphasis on listening to and incorporating the individual needs of a patient and their families when developing a plan of care. She treats all Pediatric Otolaryngology patients including those with hearing loss, sinus and skull base disease, airway and voice disorders, and benign and malignant tumors of the head and neck.

Outside of work, Dr. Chisholm enjoys spending time with her husband and their pets-a dog and a cat. She loves the outdoors and staying active and combines these loves whenever possible through running, hiking, swimming, and skiing. She also loves cooking and trying new recipes with her husband. Whenever able, she enjoys traveling to destinations that allow exploration of new places, cultures, food and/or experiences.

My daughter had blood in her ear at the end of the day on a Friday and I ran over in a panic and the secretary, or the receptionist and the ... all the staff, they were so kind and so friendly, and they really tried the best that they could to help us and Dr. Chisholm was fantastic, and she was so understanding, and she hugged me and she could see that I was worried and I just felt so comfortable after the whole process and we got home and I was so thankful and prayed a thousand times thanking God for the wonderful people at Cook Children's and especially Dr. Chisholm. Thank you. – Patient family

This was an amazing experience - which was surprising since it was something we were anxious about. By the time they took [...] back to perform procedure I was already receiving texts about progress. My husband attempted to go find the coffee shop and be back before the procedure was over. [...] was back in the room with a popsicle and happy by the time my husband made it back to the room with coffee from st.b. Super impressed with everyone's kindness.

Listened to my concerns as a parent, seemed to trust the info I was providing and ask questions in ways I could understand and repeated their understanding back to me when I answered. I felt heard and my concerns were addressed in a manner I felt confident in moving forward with treatment.

This is the 3rd facility any of my children have had to visit and once again I am grateful and impressed. The facilities are so whimsical, joy filled and caring, in how they decorate, engage and truly care for their patients-the children.

[...], the tech was very kind. Dr. Allison Chisholm remembered my child's anxiety from last seeing her back in September! She courteously showed my daughter how the tools worked, reminded her how it would actually feel, and calmly spoke with her through the appointment which eliminated the nerves that had been present.

Adalyn gets her hearing back

When Adalyn was just five months old, a complication from meningitis led to a life-changing diagnosis - hearing loss. Thanks to a life-changing cochlear implant surgery at Cook Children's, she can hear planes, bells, and her parents' voices.
